Profit Potential From Online Poker

I know just from bringing up the word poker, I am going to get over 50% of the general population saying that it is a form of gambling and there is too much risk involved to ever view this as a viable source of income, but those people are just flat out wrong.

Without digressing, if any doubts this you can do a little research online about why poker is a game of skill that can be profitable to anyone willing to put in the time and effort into learning the intricacies of the game.

Unlike casino poker, online poker is a great way to play and earn a small or large monthly income from on a very consistent basis. Personally, I would consider myself a mediocre player. I have been playing online for several years now and have been slightly over breakeven at best from actually playing against other players. Thanks to the great promotions offered by the online poker sites though, I average a profit of $1000+ a month just for playing, and I have not had a losing month in over 2 years.

Being that I am located in the United States, the level of competition and the promotions offered since April 2011(when the government cracked down on the online poker industry) has fairly heavily affected the profitability of playing the game, but it is still extremely profitable and will only get more and more profitable in the future as it is expected that the United States will make online poker completely legal within the next 1-2 years. Now is as good as time as any to get started learning about the game so that you can be amongst the first involved in the new poker boom that will occur once that happens.
